Artist Statement

I am a glutton. I’ve always been hungry to make and make and make. It’s like an itch that keeps nagging me to create. The world gets so grey and dull and boring that it starves me and then the need to make follows me around. It comes from color, people, stories, relationships, everything and these things get so twisted up inside me that they get forced out into stories and art. Those things that I can’t bring myself to talk about come so easily when I have paper and pencil to sketch with, but without any materials that itching hunger follows. I have to keep sketchbooks and pencils and pens with me at all times for when that specific type of hunger hits, twisting my life experience into a narrative that then I’m hungry to show people. I’m starving to be seen.
